Why a Retreat?

I’m a big believer in retreats, especially mini-retreats. I don’t think you should have to set aside an entire weekend or empty your savings account to get some needed rest and redirection. Simply pouring yourself a cup of coffee, grabbing a favorite pen and pretty stationery can set you on the road to mini-retreat land. I also like the idea of taking off for a couple of hours and really writing my heart out for an extended retreat. I come back refreshed and I’ve written a bunch of fun and encouraging letters for family and friends. Mission accomplished!

p.s. I wrote an entire book on how to DIY your own creative retreat if you’re interested.

Jennie Moraitis

Hi, I’m Jennie, the author of The {10 Minute} Letter-writing Retreat. I discovered personal retreats years ago and love teaching women how to make creativity a priority via mini retreats.

These can range in time from 20 minutes to an entire Saturday morning. The beauty is you adapt that time to fit your lifestyle and in so doing, you come back refreshed and energized, ready to face the world!

This particular guide was written in response to many readers who requested more letter-writing posts, prompts, and tutorials. This is the perfect resource to take along on your mini retreat: pack a treat and your favorite pen, and you’re ready to go.

Join the Pay it Forward Challenge!

You’ve probably heard of the pay it forward concept. You give something to someone who in turn passes on your kindness to another person. What if we were to take that concept into the world of letter-writing?

Of course, it might be a bit strange to write a letter of encouragement to someone and then ask them to write their own note to someone else. So for the sake of this challenge, we’re just going to get the ball rolling. We’ll send our letters out in the world and spread a little kindness. If our recipients “pay it forward” to someone else, awesome! But we’re not going to worry about that. :)
