A look back at February 2015 @littlegirldesigns.com

This Was February

Goodness, where did February go? I fully intended to have a million pictures to share with you at the end of each month but when I went through my camera roll, well, I only had these three that made the cut. I used to take so many pictures of the flowers and moss and beauty here in Oregon. Now I just take blurry pictures of my toddler running by.

We had really unseasonably warm weather in mid-February. While the rest of the country was snowbound, we had days of sun. We also were sick so maybe that made up for it. 🙂

~ The first picture in this post is a nest I noticed one day outside of my daughter’s window. I love that there is moss growing on it–welcome to Oregon! We had baby Steller’s jays in a nest outside of our bedroom window a couple of years ago and it was so incredible to watch them. I felt like I was on a nature channel because I was literally a couple of feet away from them–they were at eye level in a pine tree.

~ Since we’ve had some warm weather and sun, all of the trees and plants have burst into bloom. I had to take a picture of the crocus blooming and noticed today on our walk that that same patch has probably ten more flowers. So pretty! I love their vibrant colors. What is your favorite spring flower?

~ I had to add a picture of the famous (in our family) boots. All four of the girl cousins have worn these sweet shoes, and I’m so sad that they will be retired soon. They have definitely been loved.

~ Have you ever tried to make your own peanut butter cups? I’ve been telling everyone about this recipe at Five Heart Home . . . I can’t believe how easy it is to make these. I decided to make a single serving peanut butter cup after reading this article and mixed in a tiny bit of sea salt into the chocolate. Soooo good.

~ The actual name of this book is Alphabet Book (Farmyard Tales Books Series) and it is such a sweet book. Much like another favorite, Each Peach Pear Plum, the story has items for your child to find. It is basically an I Spy book for little ones. My daughter really, really likes these kinds of books right now.

~ Lately, I’ve been seeing tutorials all over the place to make tiny bowls for rings and things. This particular tutorial caught my eye because it looks so doable. I’d love to make these for gifts this year! Have you ever made a project with air dry clay? What brand did you use and recommend?

~ I was able to do a couple of guest posts this month which was a lot of fun! My bunting gift wrap was featured on The Crafty Blog Stalker and Ten to Twenty Parenting ran my article on 10 Inexpensive Ways to Say, “I Love You”. It was a treat to be able to work with these ladies. 🙂

~ This month has been really fun creatively. I feel like the more I exercise my ‘crafting muscles’, the more ideas I have. Even as I’m writing this post, I’ve had to stop a few times to jot down ideas on a piece of scrap paper nearby. Now I’m not saying these ideas are going to save the world, but I’m enjoying trying new things and just having fun. For example, the Woodland Creatures I made earlier this week. Definitely not a Martha Stewart style craft but they were fun to make, and my daughter and I have enjoyed playing with them. That’s a win in my book. 🙂

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful February! I’m sure many of you are ready for spring to come. Let me know in the comments what projects you’ve been working on. If you’re a blogger, feel free to link to your latest creation! I’d love to stop by and check it out.

Have a lovely {and creative} day!
