I just love this brown sugar foot scrub. I started making it for gifts years ago and though I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit, it has pretty much stayed the same. It pampers my feet and the lemon and peppermint essential oils smell amazing.
The bonus is I have all of the ingredients in my pantry so I can whip up a batch anytime I need it. This scrub makes a great gift for a friend, but it also makes a great gift for yourself! This is my at-home spa treatment. And it’s definitely what I use when I DIY a creative retreat for myself. Soo nice!

I used a small mason jar for this project but you can use any jar you’d like. Rinsed out baby food jars, jam jars, and of course, small mason jars all work great. I’ve even been known to rinse out those cute containers that hair products come in for my foot scrubs.
How to Make Brown Sugar Foot Scrub
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup coarse Kosher salt
1/2 cup olive oil*
2-3 drops organic essential oil (I use 2 drops of lemon and 1 drop of peppermint)
Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Scoop into a container and label if you’re giving it away as a gift.
To use, take a spoonful of the scrub and massage onto your foot. Rinse off with warm water. Do this before bed and put on some socks to lock in the moisture from the oil. Foot heaven! 🙂
An added benefit is the oil will moisturize your hands as well. Very gently scrub some onto the top of your hands and rinse off for a complete moisture wrap. I absolutely need this in the winter when my hands get so dry!
*You can use a really cheap olive oil here. I buy the store brand and keep it for my foot scrubs.
If you are making this scrub in this summer or will be exposing your feet to sun after using it, please do not use lemon essential oil as it is photosensitive and will make your feet more sensitive to the sun. 🙁 You can use calming lavender, amazing frankincense, or more cooling peppermint instead! 🙂
