Summer Crafting Series Finale

Welcome to the last week of my Summer Crafting series. Every Friday for the last eight weeks, I shared easy crafts you could make over the weekend. Here’s a recap, plus some fun crafts to try this weekend.

Um, you guys. I’m not ready for summer to be over. It’s not like my kiddo is going back to school or something but coming to the end of this crafting series + seeing all of the school supplies in the stores is making me feel nostalgic. Did you have a fun summer and do all of your bucket list items? Me neither. I mean, we had a fun summer, but as for the bucket list items . . . well, guess they’ll go onto next year’s list, right? (By the way, does anyone ever make it through their bucket list of “fun things to do this summer” or is it just me?)

Anyway, I thought I’d do a recap of the projects we did work on this summer, and you know, just looking at this list cheers me up. Just in case you missed some of these, let’s go through them once again:

What We Made This Summer {Summer Crafting Series}

Summer Scrapbook – When I was growing up, we pretty much always made summer scrapbooks so this is my ode to those memories!

How to Make a Ribbon Wand – This was the hit craft of the summer, both here on the blog and in real life here at home. I think it would be fun to add even more ribbon next time, and if you’re going to make one of these, you’ve got to make the matching doll tutu (and little girl tutu.)

How to Make a Doll Tutu – This poor doll is still wearing the tutu I made for her but she doesn’t seem to mind. 🙂 You’ll love how easy this project is: all you need is tulle and ribbon!

Watermelon Note Card – I made this note card to match the bag I made for the SITS Girls post in July. You could also make gift tags or place cards with just one watermelon design on each card.

Make a Wooden Bead Bracelet – Every time I see this bracelet it makes me smile. It also makes my daughter happy to see this little girl on my wrist.

Make Leaves out of Book Pages – If you have been wanting to try out book page art, this is a simple, fool-proof project to get your feet wet.

How to Make a Tree Collage (Art Journal Cover) – We used the leaves we made for the previous tutorial to make a pretty tree collage for the cover of a homemade art journal.

Make a Mommy & Me Collage (Art Journal Cover) – This mommy and me cover became the back cover for the art journal. You could also skip the illustration and just paint the back cover with big squares of paint like I did for the background. (A super fast and addictive way to paint patterns, that’s for sure!)

How to Make an Art Journal – This is where I shared how I assembled everything together using my new (and beloved) Bind-It-All machine. I seriously am wondering where this tiny machine has been all of my life. I’ve missed out on what could have been years of binding my own art journals, notepads, and memory books.

And Here Are Some More Crafts, Because Why Not?

Koosh ball flats?! Seeing these brought so many memories of playing with Koosh balls back in the day. I wonder what happened to my collection. Hmmm . . .

Here’s an easy way to make homemade stamps that does not include carving. These would be perfect for homemade cards and gift wrap.

I’ve never used heat transfer vinyl before but this elephant pillow by Flamingo Toes makes me so happy!

Darling tree bark crafts — these make me miss the huge sycamore trees we had near our apartment in Los Angeles. This is a great “found object” craft.

This leaf catchall is so gorgeous. I need to go gather some leaves this weekend and try this.

This concept makes me so happy. Yes! We’re all creative. And yay for collaboration, learning, and FUN.

A DIY notebook cover that’s so simple to make (and darling!)

And finally, Clothespin place card holders from one of my favorite people. It’s amazing how a simple clothespin can be dressed up for a wedding. LOVE this!
